Phosphor Bronze PB102
Known for their high corrosion resistance and strength, Phosphor bronzes are a part of the main group of engineering alloys and are chosen for their superior plating and spring properties. These alloys contain 0.4% phosphorus which is added as a deoxidising agent during the melting process and has a 3.5%-10% tin content. PB102 is the standard grade of wrought phosphor bronze.
Phosphor Bronze Applications
With an extensive range of applications in the electrical industry, phosphor bronze alloys are extensively used where the low magnetic permeability properties and wear, oxidation and corrosion resistance are an advantage. PB102 Phosphor bronze alloys are used for electronic and electrical components, valve spindles, pump and drive shafts as well as:
- Marine hardware
- Connectors and Fasteners
- Masonry fittings
- Gears
- Bearing bushes
- Instrumentation components
Where cold formability, good weldability and excellent soldering properties are required, PB102 is a very suitable option. In addition to its reasonable machinability, PB102 also boasts excellent butt welding and brazing capabilities.
Phosphor Bronze Rods
We stock phosphor bronze rods in diameters ranging from ½ inch up to 2 ½ inches and we also stock PB102 phosphor bronze sheets in thicknesses ranging from 1.2mm up to 64mm.
